Disabled Elderly Man Norman Roy Kicked out of his home
on 4 Beech Street by City of Gardiner Officials
A disabled elderly Gardiner man living on a fixed income loses his home because City OFFICIALS refuse to give him a tax abatement. The worst part is that City OFFICIALS have increased the property tax by 3 times over and refuse to issue repair permits because he owes back taxes. The city says the property is worth $73,000.00 according to city tax records. In a Kennebec Journal article dated March 22, 2007 the city says the property is worthless and is considering giving it away. How exactly is it possible to charge $70,000. 00 valuation on a worthless piece of property. It is apparent that the city has deliberately targeted the elderly man for the purpose of kicking him out of his own home ILLEGALLY. Is there any need to abuse the disabled and elderly? What kind of a city would do something like this?

Take a look at these photos is this property worth $70,000.00? The City of gardiner was collecting $1,400.00 per year on this home that they themselves said was worthless. Is there something wrong here? You bet there is.

Kobrock said the city had tried to work with Roy, unsuccessfully, for more than a decade to get him to fix code violations and clean up the property in a tightly-packed neighborhood.(THE CITY REFUSED TO GIVE HIM PERMITS) Kobrock noted the city will benefit for years to come by the property being redone andreturned to taxable status.(THE CITY WAS CHARGING $1,400.00 ON A WORTHLSS PIECE OF PROPERTY ACCORDING TO THEIR OWN STATMENTS AND FROM A MAN THAT LIVED IN POVERTY AND WAS REFUSED A TAX ABATEMENT) Fair? Ya it's fair, because it's a city where history and progress meet, WELCOME TO GARDINER.

This is the same question Judge Marden asked himself in open court just before issuing a protection order against the city and Mr. Kobrock and couldn't come up with an answer except the word "STUPID" The city of Gardiner is it's own worst enemy, and that is a fact". The legal system to help the poor in Maine is a total joke. Case in point Norman Roy- The city of Gardiner took this mans home for non payment of taxes according to Jeff Kobrock's explanation. Here is the real story, not lies put out by the city. 1. Norman Roy was a disabled poor man living on social security. 2. Norman Roys home was just about worthless. 3. The city decided to double Roys taxes from $700. to $1,400.00 knowing the home was worthless. 4. The city knew Roy was poor. 5. The city refused a tax abatement based on poverty. 6. The city refused to issue repair permits based on taxes owed, in other words you cant fix your home if you owe property taxes. The city was complaining that the home was in disrepair but refused to issue permits. 7. The city set Norman Roy up and then took his home. This is called theft by deception. Pine tree legal did absolutely nothing to save this mans home, Pine tree legal called the city and asked then if they were following the law, the city said yes. This is like asking a drunken driver if he is drunk. They never looked into the tax records, then never looked at the property,they never questioned the $1,400.00 tax bill on a worthless piece of property. They never questioned the city as to why they did not allow a tax abatement, Pine Tree Legal is a total joke. Look at photos of Roys home and then ask yourself why did the city double the tax bill, the answer is obvious.
